There was great excitement on the 1st of December 2025 as researchers joined together to celebrate the 4th Annual Aidan P. Moran Research Day. The event brought researchers and graduate students from UCD and international universities together to share the diverse range of research taking place.
The day included a mix of talk and poster presentations, alongside coffee and lunch breaks. These breaks were particularly valuable as conversations were buzzing about the research that had been presented. I, Alexandra Broderick Khan, found these informal discussions to be a great opportunity to further question the ideas and research presented, particularly Jo Bower’s work on sleep research (one of the keynote speakers).
The projects presented really highlighted the breadth of psychology research being conducted currently. Projects included areas such as gender equality, health psychology, esports, music therapy, mental health, gamification and more, while also covering important real-world impact such as interventions, and university and health policy.
Eímear Quinn, Shannon Rosbotham and I also represented the Cognition, Development and Learning (CDL) Lab by presenting on the day. It was fantastic that three of our lab members could showcase different research projects. Eímear and Shannon displayed their posters during the poster session, with Eímear focusing on the Junior Engineering Development Initiative (JEDI) Perceptions project, while Shannon shared her PhD research on socioeconomic status and spatial-math abilities. Towards the end of the day, I delivered a talk presentation on a research project examining links between technology-use, independent living, and executive functioning skills, in people with Williams Syndrome. Overall, we took great pride in sharing the meaningful work that is taking place at the CDL Lab.
