On the 26th of June 2025, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the NeuroDevelopmental Annual Seminar (NDAS) at City St George’s, University of London. At the seminar, I presented our research project, “Technology-use, Independent Living and Executive Functioning Skills in People with Williams Syndrome” (Authors: Katie A. Gilligan-Lee, Alexandra Broderick Khan, Megan Davies, Sarah Jones, Su Morris & Emily K. Farran).
It was a privilege to share our findings and to raise awareness of this important yet underrepresented area of research. The audience asked insightful questions and were curious about our results. It was encouraging to see such enthusiasm. I also attended several other interesting presentations that covered a broad range of research topics, including mealtimes and eating behaviours in neurodivergent individuals, the intersection of epilepsy and neurodivergence, strategies to promote and advocate for research, and many more. I learned a lot about the rich potential for multidisciplinary research in the fields of intellectual disabilities and neurodivergence. It was also fantastic connecting with individuals during coffee breaks from a variety of disciplines (e.g., medicine, psychology), and individuals from students to those in the later stages of their career.
Overall, the seminar was an invaluable experience and I am excited for the next steps in our research project.
